calderdale wind farm

The Planning process

In September 2023, the UK Government relaxed the existing moratorium for onshore wind that has been in place since 2015.

WWRE is in the early stages of preparing a planning application under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for a wind farm development and associated infrastructure, including connection to the national grid, which will be submitted to Calderdale Council as the Local Planning Authority (LPA).

We will shortly be submitting a Scoping Report to Calderdale Council to help us identify the significant likely effects of the proposed wind farm which will need to be fully assessed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which will be submitted as part of a future planning application. The purpose of the Scoping Report is to provide information to Calderdale Council and relevant statutory consultees to determine the scope of the EIA, so that our environmental and other technical assessments focus on receptors which may experience significant effects as a result of the proposed wind farm.

The current design of Calderdale Wind Farm is a result of maximising the potential wind resource whilst recognising the constraints that exist. The layout of Calderdale Wind Farm is expected to be further refined during the preparation of a planning application and in consultation with local communities, prior to a planning application being submitted.

Once validated, the Scoping Report will be available to download from this page.
